It was like a dream come true for us to finally make it to this year’s Anime Festival Asia (AFA). Held annually for the last 15 years, AFA is the largest anime convention in Singapore, bringing together big anime companies retailing official merchandise, exciting performers on Akiba stage, and the best of cosplayers and fanartists in the Creators Alley.

We took up a booth at the food street serving up delicious bowls of oden (S$8) for 12 pieces of savoury fish cakes, Tricolor Dango Mochi (S$4) and Coffee Jelly Cup (S$4). Although we didn’t generate the most revenue over the 3-day convention, I’m pretty sure we generated the most noise, entertainment and hype for the tired convention goers trying to find respite and a breather from the overpacked Suntec Convention Hall.

I think as anime fans ourselves, we had the most fun checking out all the booths before the convention started and after the end of each day, as well as being able to get up close and personal with many cosplayers and fanartists. I think we will always look back with much fondness of the excitement we had during our first AFA exhibition.
