Organised by Doujinfes (one of the up and coming anime convention organisers in Singapore), Daijoubu hosted more than 20 potential artists who wanted to learn how to booth at conventions. The engaging three-hour session was delivered by @kevinpanda, a veteran in the boothing space. He’s very well known for his distinctive art style which he has replicated on hundreds of anime and game characters.
He shared with participants the financial considerations of becoming a boother, strategies on ideation (e.g. balancing between evergreen IPs and trending ones), potential suppliers to work with for merchandise production (e.g. AUSG), inventory management (e.g. how to get rid of old stock) and other matters. It was a really insightful session learning from someone within the industry and the struggles and triumphs he’s faced over the years.
It was our first time hosting a workshop within our cafe amidst all the leftover stock from our AFA escapade. It may not have been the most conducive environment for learning but we’ll learn and improve for future engagements. Thank you for collaborating with us Doujinfes!
